Breaking New Ground Makes Way For New Homes In The Village

Social Development Minister, Nelson McCausland breaks ground to make way for new homes in Belfast's Village area.

The new social housing scheme at Ebor/Frenchpark Street will see the development of 37 new homes, in the first phase of a new social housing scheme by Fold Housing Association.

The second phase of the scheme, will see the development of a further 50 new homes in the Monarch area, bringing the total investment in regeneration of the area to £10 million.


Cutting the first sod, Minister McCausland said: "This is an important day for the people of the Village and only the start of our plans for this community. Replacing poor quality housing with bright, modern, thermal efficient homes is an important first step in supporting and sustaining a community such as this. As well as these 37 new homes, Fold are also building 50 new properties in the Monarch side of the Village – 87 new homes will go a long way in transforming the Village – making it a better, safer and healthier place to live.

"Credit must be given to the members of the Community Design Team and Greater Village Regeneration Trust who have worked tirelessly with the Housing Executive to bring these proposals to life. Without their drive and determination we wouldn’t be here today."
