The redevelopment will see seven properties on the Limestone Road and three properties on the Halliday's Road demolished for replacement with new build. Minister McCausland said: "This is an important day for the people of the Tiger's Bay area. Demolition work has now begun to help rejuvenate the area by re-developing buildings that are in a dilapidated condition and a blight on the local community.

"However this is just the start of our plans for this community. Replacing blight and dereliction with good quality housing is an important first step in supporting and sustaining communities who may have previously felt left behind or marginalised. That is why these 10 new homes are just the start, not the end of our work here. During next year, we will bring forward a further 16 new homes in Tiger's Bay, reinforcing my support for this community."
Apex Housing Association has been formally appointed to take forward this development in one of the most deprived areas of Belfast.
