Durkan Urges Support For Fair Fuel Campaign

SDLP Foyle MP Mark Durkan is urging people in Derry and throughout the North to back FairFuelUK's campaign to stop the British government’s rise in fuel duty this summer.

Mr Durkan said: "I am deeply concerned at the rising cost of fuel and the devastating impact this is having on firms and families in Derry and throughout the North.

"In the face of all this, the government remains committed to its plan to add a further 3p a litre in fuel tax this summer.


"This fills many people and business owners here with dread.

"The 3p rise must be scrapped and fuel duty cut, not increased.

"I am therefore backing the FairFuel call to stop the government hammering people with another fuel tax rise in August.

"I am also urging people in Derry who are affected by this issue to add their name to the massive number already signed up at www.fairfueluk.com

"Every extra signature adds weight to this important campaign and increases the chances of success. It is therefore vital that local people and businesses sign up."
