Extensive refurbishment works have recently been completed to enhance the waiting facilities for passengers using the Bus Station in Foyle Street, Londonderry.
Mayor of Derry City Council Alderman Maurice Devenney is accompanied by Alan Young, Translink Service Delivery Manager, for a tour of the newly upgraded Foyle Street Bus Station which has recently been extensively refurbished. Work included improvements to the passenger waiting area with new lighting and flooring, better signage and improvements to the shop kiosk and café areas offering greater levels of comfort and convenience.
Alan Young, Service Delivery Manager for Translink said: "Attractive, high quality facilities play an important role in attracting new people to use our services or to use them more often. This work has seen the passenger waiting area remodelled with new lighting, new flooring, better signage and improvements to the shop kiosk and café areas now offering greater levels of comfort and convenience.
"These enhancements have revitalised the station for both our customers and employees. Already around one million customers use our Foyle Street Station every year and with more people expected to visit our City on the lead into and during the UK City of Culture we want to play our part in local tourism by helping to ensure that we leave a lasting impression of a modern, attractive and progressive City.
"Our property engineers have worked hard with the contractors to complete this work over a 5 week period. We have had a lot of positive feedback already and we would like to thank all our passengers and staff for their patience and support during these works. This enhancement is just another highlight in our company wide station improvement programme."
