All Available Options To Be Considered For Bangor Central IPS

Education Minister, John O'Dowd, has commented on the position of a potential capital building project for Bangor Central Integrated Primary School.

Bangor Central Integrated Primary School is one of many schools hoping to secure funding for a new school building in the future. To facilitate this, the school is hoping to acquire land at the site of Bangor Castle Leisure Centre, adjacent to the current school site.

The Minister said: "I am aware of the issues around the sale of this land. While not directly involved in the process, my Department has been in touch with the South Eastern Education and Library Board. I understand the potential exists for a piece of land to be made available to the school for any future development.


"Last autumn I commissioned a strategic area planning exercise based on each Education & Library Board area to shape the future pattern of education delivery.

"Previously identified projects, such as that for Bangor Central Integrated Primary School, will be critically assessed alongside all other potential projects as part of the area planning process to determine how they will contribute to the overall infrastructure needed. No school building project will be looked at in isolation but must be considered in the context of the wider area."
