£5m Key Road Developments In Dungannon On Track

A major range of maintenance improvements have been completed in Dungannon following a £5 million investment.

Regional Development Minister Danny Kennedy planned out the Roads Service's progress and said the scheme will improve safety and traffic progression.

The Minister said: "The priorities and constraints placed on funding levels by Budget 2010 mean it is likely the programme of Local Transport and Safety Measures in 2012/13 and 2013/14 will be under considerable pressure. While current indications are that funding for resurfacing and minor improvement works will be very limited next year, I remain committed to delivering these important schemes as resources permit."

Senior Engineer, Mr Gerry Hackett highlighted a number of improvement and maintenance schemes currently under construction and planned this year.

"I am pleased to note the completion of a number of other significant schemes in the area including the footway/cycle way on Killyman Road. The new Ballygawley Park and Ride facility has been very popular with commuters and there has been numerous other pieces of work that have made roads safer and more efficient."

Mr Hackett also discussed a priority list of schemes for 2012/13, which include works on B43 Newell Road at the entrance to Lisnahull, improvements at the junction of Bovean Road and Derrygally Road, and a footway link on Quarry Lane, Dungannon.
