Coast Guard Station Gets Green Light

The long awaited Killybegs Coast Guard Station has been given the go-ahead by the Office of Public Works.

The Minister of State at the Department of Community, Equality and Gaeltacht Affairs, Dinny McGinley, is delighted it has been approved by the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport, Leo Varadkar.


Minister McGinley said: "The entire north west coast had been lobbying for this for many years and I am delighted that the Minister has given approval for this coast guard station.

"This service will benefit the entire fishing fleet of the north west."

Construction is expected to begin next spring.
