Bio Plant Could Create Construction Jobs

Planning permission is expected to be sought for a state of the art bio park in Claremorris in County Mayo and if successful several hundred construction jobs will be created.

A 20 acre site at Kilbeg will be used for the development and it is understood that planning permission will be submitted to the local authorities later this month.

The Bio Park would comprise three intertwined elements, with a Combined Heat and Power (CHP) building, a medical device building and a pharmaceutical building on site.

If Mayo County Council give the go ahead for the project Claremorris could also see the creation of up to 300 non construction jobs after the project is completed.

According to Western People, local man JP Prendergast, is one of the key promoters behind the project.

Speaking exclusively to Western People, he explained that the promoters have been working towards this project for a number of years and are now ready to proceed with their plans, pumping millions of euro into the local economy and taking a major step forward in making Claremorris a Green Town.

"We are ready to make a heavy investment in this project because we believe in it and we know it will be a massive boost to Claremorris and indeed the county.

"We wanted to make sure all of the boxes were ticked before we brought the plans into the public domain. We want to be completely transparent with our plans and are inviting people to come to the information and see the project for what it is," Mr Pendergast told Western People.
