Louth School Extension Progressing

The completion of a major €3m school extension in Co Louth has moved a step closer with the news that the main contractor, ABM Construction, commenced work last month.

The construction of the extensions to the existing Aston Village Educate Together National School will add a two-storey, 12 classroom extension with ancillary accommodation at Dunlin Street, Aston Village, Drogheda.

The works will connect to the north of the existing building with a new single-storey entrance, a stand alone general purpose room linked to the existing school with a covered walkway and a new two-storey extension to the south comprising of two class based special needs unit on the ground floor and four classrooms with ancillary accommodation to first floor.


The total floor area of new extension is 3,177 square metres.

The approved siteworks are to increase the provision of car parking spaces from 15 to a total of 55 and the existing tarmacadam play area will be extended and a new project and special needs gardens will be developed along the southern boundary of site.

In addition, an ESB Substation will be located at the site.

The architect is Mullarkey Pederson Architects and the electrical subcontractor is Precision Electric.
