Builders are to benefit with news that a planned €1m school construction project is to go ahead.
The new single-storey school extension will be at Ballyhaunis, Co. Mayo.
Kilcawley Construction has now been named as the main contractor for the works involved with the construction of a 910 square metres single-storey extension to the Scoil Íosa building at Abbeyquarter.
The works will consist of the construction of the extension to the existing primary school building, alterations and refurbishment works to the existing 988sq.m. primary school building (including new pitched roof structure) and extensive site development works and all associated site services.
According to the website www.unearthore.com the works will also include the removal of asbestos materials by an OPW approved asbestos removal contractor.
The existing school will remain in operation for the duration of the construction works; therefore the project will be carried out in three phases to facilitate this.
The cost of the scheme is in the region of €1m and main construction work is expected to commence on site during early May for the contract period of 15 months.
The architect is Hamilton Young Architects and the structural consultant is Jennings O'Donovan and Partners, the M & E consultant is Heavey Kenny Associates.
