Irish Funds Committed To Offaly Roads

Ireland is putting €7.5m into roads spending in various Locations, across Co Offaly.

The money has been allocated to Offaly County Council for spending on regional and local roads.

Of the €7.5m which was provided, the vast majority (€5.9m) will go to road improvements, safety works and signposting.

An additional €600,000 is to be spent on specific improvement projects such as: Adams Villas Tullamore (€100,000); Clonearl Daingean (€100,000); Moorpark Road Tullamore (€100,000) and Mountrath Road, Kinnity (€100,000). In addition, €200,000 is to be used for bridge strengthening.

An allocation of €1.5m will go to the maintenance of regional and local roads, with €217,000 of this set aside for winter maintenance work.

According to the website, unearthore.com, there will also be a series of 'low cost safety improvement works' which will cost a total of €196,000.

These will take place at the R402 (Ballinagar); the L-1023 (Ballycommon to Derrygrogan); Convent Road, Tullamore; the R402 (Daingean); the R420 (Geashill Cross Roads); the R401 (Kilcumber bridge); the R420 (Portarlington) and the R400 (Rhode Bridge).
