Heritage Boost In Petrol Station Move

Plans for the rebuilding of an existing petrol forecourt have been submitted to Cork County Council for the construction of a mixed-use development at Tullyneasky West,

Knockaphonery and Tulligee, Lisavaird, Clonakilty, Co Cork.

The imaginative scheme involves an element of Irish heritage too as internal and external works for the renovation of the remains of the former Lisavaird National School and the change of use of the resulting building from the display and storage of retail goods (principally fuels) to a centre for the display of local heritage items is part of the plan.

It also details the relocation of an existing petrol station including the removal of the road side pumps and underground fuel storage tanks and the construction of the relocated petrol station incorporating three pump islands, underground fuel storage tanks, petrol retailing forecourt with overhead canopy, a 97.8 sq metres shop and 10 parking bays.

It also includes the demolition of mill buildings and part of the existing dwelling/shop and the change of use of the remainder of dwellings on the ground floor to retail and the first floor to self-contained apartment including elevational changes.

Permission is also being sought for the construction of a terrace of three two-storey, three-bedroom houses incorporating six residential parking bays.
