St. Colmcilles is currently the biggest national school in the country and caters for 1,400 pupils.
"The Pre-Qualification of Contractors notice for this important project has been published on www.etenders.gov.ie," said Senator Corrigan. "This allows for qualified contractors to now express an interest in construction of the project. Both present buildings will be demolished and will be replaced with a three-storey building with accommodation to include general purpose rooms, libraries, meeting rooms, special education rooms, atriums, administration office, car parking spaces and play areas.

"The new school accommodation, which is innovative and exciting in its design, will provide purpose-built accommodation and additional facilities for students and improve the learning environment at St. Colmcilles. A huge amount of time and energy has been expended on this building project and enormous credit is due to the work undertaken by the School Teams, Boards of Management, families and residents.
"The construction of the new school accommodation is very important to the local community and I will be monitoring its progress closely," concluded Senator Corrigan.
