Acheson And Glover Celebrate 50th

Leading figures in the construction industry in Northern Ireland found out about the creative design possibilities of concrete in construction at a special event by concrete products manufacturer Acheson & Glover.

Belfast's Waterfront Conference Centre was the venue for the book launch of 'Concrete Elegance Five' by renowned author David Bennett.

The event featured a photographic exhibition showcasing innovative concrete design in architecture.

The book launch was hosted by Acheson & Glover to celebrate 50 years in business, and took place in front of a specially invited VIP audience drawn from the world of construction, architecture, business, finance and government bodies.

Guest speaker was MLA Edwin Poots, Minister of the Environment and the aim of the event was to bring together representatives from leading industry bodies and showcase the many benefits of concrete in construction, design and architecture.

The author of major books on modern architectural concrete and a consultant to architects and developers, David Bennett is a leading authority on fine finishes and modern precast construction and a lecturer on the use and application of all forms of insitu and precast architectural concrete.

"The possibilities for innovative, decorative and durable concrete finishes continue to inspire and challenge our preconceptions," said David, whose new book details the innovative use of concrete over the last half century.

"The construction industry has suffered badly in the economic down turn but we have worked hard to ensure we continue to provide the highest standards of design and product manufacture," said Acheson & Glover's Managing Director Raymond Acheson.
