Degree Of Success In University Contracts

The ability to offer an all-round superior package has led to Northern Ireland concrete products manufacturer Acheson & Glover achieving sales of £2 million in the university buildings sector during the last 12 months.

The County Tyrone company has been winning substantial new build university contracts in the UK.

“Key to this success has been our determination to provide a high quality product and service along with a competitive price offer,” said Acheson & Glover’s Commercial Director Stuart Cook.

“Most recently we have been working on two new build universities at Bath and Manchester, both due to open in September 2011.”

On the Bath university project Acheson & Glover supplied a precast frame column, beams, walls and hollowcore flooring, while for the Manchester project the company supplied a free standing beam and column grillage to open core ends of the building along with roof beams to support the glazing over the open cores. One of the main features supplied and fitted by the company on the Manchester project was a full height eight storey, four car lift shaft structure.

“Acheson & Glover was chosen over its competitors because we were offering a full design, manufacture and fitting service,” said Stuart. “We were competitive and could demonstrate we had the required team and equipment to deliver projects of this nature.

“We were also able to show clients and their design teams our ability to achieve the level of finish required on the projects.

“Acheson & Glover can offer the broadest range of concrete products, from paving to flooring to structural precast concrete solutions. Very few competitors can offer the same range.”

In the broader educational sector, over recent years, many new schools in Britain have been constructed with floors and stairs from Acheson & Glover and finished with the company's extensive range paving and flags.
