Glenvale Kitchens Win International Design Award In London

Glenvale Kitchens are the first company in Ireland to win the Design Awards in London.

It was a design created by Darren Morgan that secured Glenvale Kitchens the win, and won Darren the prestigious title of 'Contract Kitchen Designer of the Year'.

The Design Awards attracts some of the best designers in the world and previous winners come from an international pedigree including Mark Wilkinson, Johnny Grey, Phillipe Starke and Marc Newson. The Awards are organised by the publishers of Designer Magazine and celebrates innovation across all areas of the home. The winning entries are chosen as those which best represent excellence in design. All the finalists attended the exclusive award ceremony at Lord's Cricket Ground in London and the winners were announced with the traditional opening of an envelope.

Dan Cruickshank, architectural historian and BBC television presenter was on hand to present Darren with the accolade.

Speaking about the win Darren said: "It was a humbling experience sitting in a room with some of the biggest names in the field of design, so to actually win is just unbelievable. Being given this award is certainly the highlight of my career to date and it’s a fantastic boost for all of the team!"

The Designer Magazine commented on the winning design by saying: "A beautifully well-planned and practical space, but with the kind of visual impact that makes this a show kitchen, Darren Morgan’s Dynamic Kitchen was the unanimous winner for the judges."

Glenvale Kitchens are no strangers to this kind of success with Darren having now won three of the most prestigious design awards in the industry including Designer of the Year 2009 and 2010. Never before has a company in Ireland received this type of recognition and it is testament to the fact that great design can literally be on your doorstep!

Aidan and Maureen McCooey, Proprietors of Glenvale Kitchens said: "In a time of economic uncertainty we are offering customers an award winning service and a product that is keenly priced. We are delighted that our efforts are being recognized at such a high level."
