Pat the Cope Gallagher MEP has confirmed that the HSE has approved funding for separate projects at Dungloe Community Hospital, Learning Disabilities Centre, The Angle, Dungloe and Primary Care Centre, Glenties.
Dungloe Community Hospital has been approved for an extension to provide additional facilities which will include four single ensuite bedrooms, a day room with disabled toilet and a sensory garden within a safe environment. The project will cost in the region of €500,000.
Learning Disability Centre at the Angle has been granted approval for an upgrade of the day centre which will include, attic conversion, staff changing room, meeting room, office, provision of toilet and shower areas and improvement works to the front entrance. These works will allow for an extension to the existing workspace and also improve facilities for wheelchair users. The project will cost in the region of €200,000. This is Phase 1 of the proposed overall development to include a Hydropool and ancillary facilities.
The €1.6 million proposed centre will provide Primary Care Services and Community Service Clinics which will be used by the broader community for social interaction and activities.
The new centre will enable primary care to centre on the needs of individuals and groups of people, and will match their needs with the competencies required to meet them. Some of the essential components will include assessment, diagnosis, therapy, nursing, social services referral and rehabilitation.
Planning permission for all projects has been granted, contractors are about to be appointed. It is expected that work will commence on the three sites within the next few weeks.
