The development will include a new campus accommodating all of the activities of DIT in one location. It will also provide mental health facilities, as well as a variety of public amenities, to be built on the grounds of St. Brendan’s Hospital in Grangegorman in Dublin 7. The project will create significant employment over the course of its construction as well as additional jobs in areas such as retail, administration, maintenance and other services into the future.

Mr Cowen said: "This is a significant project in terms of generating jobs and providing a key piece of infrastructure for education and to develop our knowledge economy.
