Grontmij has appointed a new managing director for the UK and Ireland.
John Chubb will join the company from 1st October 2010.
Lawrence Hughes, current managing director of Grontmij in the UK and Ireland, will retain his role as chairman of the UK and Ireland board, as well as taking up the international group director role that he was appointed to in January on a full time basis. The rest of the senior management team remains unchanged.
Mr Chubb (45) joins from VT Group, where he held various senior positions across the environment, nuclear and communications sectors. Most recently, he was managing director of the environment division, leading the successful integration of the waste to energy and nuclear businesses whilst delivering growth and efficiency savings.
Prior to this, he led the successful integration of the former BNG Project Services business into VT Nuclear Services delivering double digit growth and excellence in customer focus and continuous improvement. Previous roles with British Telecom, a highly successful career in the Royal Navy and a degree in engineering, mean Mr Chubb is well positioned to provide the strategic direction and delivery mechanisms required to prepare Grontmij for the next stages of the consultancy's continued development.
Sylvo Thijsen, CEO of Grontmij: "John's appointment signals a new era in Grontmij's UK development. As market conditions stabilise in the UK, we are again in a position where we are looking to grow in the coming years, especially with our significant framework wins in the water industry. John is the right person to oversee this next phase in the company's growth."
