New NIHE Board Members Revealed

The make-up of the Northern Ireland Housing Executive board has been announced.

The ex-NI Social Development Minister Margaret Ritchie revealed the appointments after a public appointments competition, and said that three board members have been appointed for a five year term from 1 June.

The new members are Edna Dunbar MBE, Angela Coffey and Kenneth Millar. The members will receive £6,740 per annum for their services.

These appointments have been made in accordance with the Commissioner for Public Appointments for Northern Ireland's Code of Practice which means a selection panel which included an independent panel member, as required under the Commissioner's Code considered the suitability of all candidates was set-up, with the final decision on the appointments resting with the Minister.


Mrs Dunbar lives in Portrush and is a self employed consultant and has not engaged in any political activity in the last five years and holds no other public appointments.

Mrs Coffey lives is Camlough and is a former Principal Civil Engineer with the Department for Regional Development.

She is a member of the Board of Governors for the Southern Regional College and a Non-Executive Director of Board Northern Ireland Transport Holding Company for which she receives no remuneration. Mrs Coffey has not engaged in any political activity in the last five years.

Mr Millar lives in Comber and is a management consultant. Mr Millar has not engaged in any political activity in the last five years and holds no other public appointments.

A recent reshuffle in the SDLP brought about by the promotion of Alex Attwood to has since replaced Margaret Ritchie as Minister for Social Development - with housing responsibility.
