A Belfast-based construction firm has been awarded two national awards from industry body 'Considerate Constructors'.
Mascot’s recent project at South Eastern Regional College in Newtownards, Co Down was awarded runner-up in the category of 'UK’s Most Considerate Construction Site' as well as receiving a Gold Award.
The awards, which recognise the building industry's "excellent standard of consideration towards their workforce, their neighbours and the environment", saw Mascott's site short-listed from over 7600 eligible entries across the UK.
The £3.6million project, which saw the redevelopment of a brownfield site into a pioneering centre of excellence for the construction and automotive industry, was completed by the company in 2009.
Neil Hyland, Contracts Manager at Mascott commented: "Mascott Construction voluntarily subscribe to the Considerate Constructor's Scheme. The scheme is a non-profit making organisation founded by the industry to improve its image.
"We understand the huge impact that the construction industry has on all our lives, especially those projects in more sensitive locations. We continuously work to maintain an ethos of competent management, efficiency, awareness of local environmental issues and an acute consideration of our 'neighbours' on each of our sites. In today's difficult economic times it is more important than ever that the industry presents a more 'professional' and discerning code of conduct."
He continued: "We are delighted to receive this national award and feel that it is testament to the professionalism and superb quality of work that we strive to achieve in every project that we complete across the sector. As a team we are dedicated to delivering a fluid and flexible solutions based approach to ensuring our clients’ needs and aspirations are realised...Considerate Constructors dovetails perfectly into this way of working."
