Thomas Nolan & Sons will provide a new training centre with the facilities necessary to cater for the training requirements of Clare County Fire and Rescue personnel. Construction work will commence later this month and is expected to be completed within six months.

The contract is being funded by the National Directorate for Fire and Emergency Management of the Department of the Environment, Heritage and Local Government, which is providing €470,000 for all costs, including construction costs and design fees.
Mayor of Ennis, Councillor Frankie Neylon said the fire-fighting capability of the local service would be greatly enhanced through the provision of the proposed new training centre.
"It is vital the Government continues to invest in our fire service to ensure that communities have the necessary assurances of modern facilities, including lecture rooms and work areas, which can also provide a safer place to work for our firefighters," he said.
