Emerald Tarmac and Asphalt is a friendly family run business with over 35 years of experience creating driveways and paths. My grandfather started the business in the late 70s, then my father took it over and now it’s been passed down to me.

We have 15 members of staff working with us, all with many years of experience and their own machines. We use top quality materials as supplied by Roadstone, Harringtons, McGraths of Cong, Kilsarn, Tobermore, etc. and treat each driveway as if it was our own. We take pride in our work and make sure we do a perfect job at all times. This you can see both from our testimonials and as many of the jobs we do are as a direct result of recommendations from existing clients. We do not except any down payments, half way payments, deposits etc.. We only get paid when the job is fully finished to our customers satisfaction and give a 5 year written guarantee.

Benefits of Tarmac and Asphalt Paving
Tarmac is generally considered to be the cheapest method of laying a hard surface. But it’s a time-consuming job which requires specialist tools, machinery and, not least, knowledge.

Compared to brick and concrete block paving, tarmac or asphalt paving is:

• Safer (skid resistant and less prone to being iced over)
• Recyclable (can be dug up and re-used)

Tarmac and asphalt paving can be laid in many different ways. You can choose just asphalt to ensure a tight, smooth jet black finish to your driveway, or we can spray hot tar with granite, limestone or golden gravel chippings. This treatment, commonly known as ‘tar and chip’, or surface dressing, gives the driveway more sophisticated, matt finish.

Our Services

New Tarmac or Asphalt driveways
Installing a typical tarmac driveway.
Usual steps involved

• Scraping off the top layer of dirt and weeds and removing any excess gravel.
• Treating the driveway with weed and moss killer
• Creating and consolidating a level 804 sub base, with a gradient to allow for rain water run off. If a driveway needed extra drainage we would install a drainage grid and link it to the storm drain or a purpose built soak pit.
• Laying a 2½” layer of S.M.A. tarmac which is rolled smooth to complete the driveway.
• Clearing the site of all rubbish and taking it away to the recycling dump.

Driveway repairs
Depending on the extent of damage to your existing paving, we can either re-surface it, or restore your tarmac to its former glory by applying TarmaSeal. Unlike cheap bitumen paints, TarmaSeal is :

• Very hard wearing,
• Resistant to stains and water penetration,
• Restores lost colour,
• Covers stains and spillages
• Increases lifespan of tarmac and asphalt
