About Boston Access
Boston Timber Ltd is a family owned scaffold board supplier based in Essex. We supply British Standard boards and battens to the UK, Irish and international markets.
Boston Timber is affiliated to BM Trada who has trained and continually monitors its graders to ensure that the quality of its scaffold boards and battens. BM Trada provides Boston Timber with its 3rd party accreditation and therefore every board and batten that Boston Timber produces has the BM Trada Q Mark on the endband. Each board and batten also has Boston Timber’s unique BM Trada licence number on it which gives full traceability back to the company.
Boston Timber supplies boards from 100% sustainable sources and has a chain of custody procedures in place under the PEFC (the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification schemes) to ensure that this sustainable timber is passed on to our customers.
To ensure sustainability and quality Boston Timber only buys timber from the best saw mills across Europe. Our quality control team are very strict in accepting new suppliers and as a result all of our suppliers are top quality, 100% PEFC Certified saw mills and produce some of the highest quality timber in Europe.
Boston Timber supplies sole boards and Fire Treated boards, as well as branding, nail plating and other scaffold board related services. We have a saw on site and fully trained handlers who can cut any size of board required by the customer.
Boston Timber supplies timber to customers in the UK, Ireland and across the world. We supply to some of the largest and most respected scaffolding suppliers in the UK.
Boston Timber has a team of highly trained graders who visually grade every Scaffold board and batten that is sold by the company. These graders, trained by BM Trada, have a strong understanding of timber products and scaffold boards and this ensures that our boards and battens are of the highest quality.
Scaffold Boards
Boston Timber supplies visually graded British Standard scaffold boards cut from 100% sustainable sources. Our boards are graded by our team of trained visual graders at our depot in Essex. Each board is carefully examined before being passed as a British standard scaffold board. In accordance to The British Standard 2482:2009 our boards must be supported on the scaffold every 1.2m as they are visually graded. Boston Timber packs its scaffold boards into packs of 50 boards.
Scaffold Battens
Boston Timber supplies visually graded British Standard scaffold battens cut from 100% sustainable sources. Our battens are graded by our team of trained visual graders at our depot in Essex. Each batten is carefully examined before being passed as a British standard scaffold batten. Boston Timber packs its scaffold battens in packs of 50 battens.
Fire Treatments
Fire retardant treatment for scaffold boards will be required when they are used in certain construction situations – petro-chemical and oil rig applications, nuclear power stations and above and underground rail projects in particular. At Boston Timber we offer DRICON protection for our scaffold boards – a proven and industry acknowledged premium fire retardant treatment that will provide complete confidence for you and your customers.
Other Services
Branding
Some companies want to have their company name or some form of identification branded onto the scaffold board Boston Timber can do that for them. Usually the board is branded 6 times, top middle and bottom on each side.
Named Endbands
Some companies want to have their company name or some form of identification on the endband Boston Timber can provide this.
Marking
Some companies like to have a different colour paint or marking on their board to make it standout on site. Boston Timber will provide any paint or marking that your customer requires.
Nail Plated
Often customers require nail plates on their scaffold boards. Nail Plates are made from galvanised sheet steel and are 27mm x 190mm x 0.7mm. The have a minimum of 42 teeth which are stuck into the board on both sides at each end at least 230mm from the end. Nail Plates are put onto the board while pressure is applied to the edges. The nail plates are to prevent any fissures appearing on the boards.
