About Powercom Solutions Lightning Protection
Powercom Solutions is a company based in Dublin with nationwide coverage that specialises in all aspects of Lightning Protection and Electrical works; we design, install, test and maintain systems, as well as carry out essential repairs and maintenance.
Together with our fully trained operatives (who have over two decades experience), you can be assured your lightning protection system will meet the highest possible standards, and that the system, if maintained correctly, will protect the building and the people and equipment within it, whenever it is called upon to do so.
Design
Powercom Solutions is dedicated to providing the latest thinking on integrated lightning prevention, lightning protection and earthing products, services and solutions.
The design of your lightning protection system is an important part of your installation. A system designed correctly by our engineers allows us to identify what is required to install your system in-line with the current standards and specification set out in IS EN 62305.
Installation
With many years of experience of designing and installing Lightning Protection solutions throughout Ireland, our experienced installation engineers can install systems on a wide variety of buildings and structures. Whether it be a Domestic, Commercial or Historic building our systems are designed and installed to the highest standards and comply with the current standards and specification set out in IS EN 62305.
A lightning protection installation can range from a Class I, II, III & IV and in brief consists of an Air-terminal Network, Down Conductors and Earth Terminations.
Consultancy
To maintain the highest level of service and performance, Powercom Solutions works with carefully chosen partners to offer expertise in atmospheric physics, field electromagnetics and numerical computations & modelling, as applied to lightning protection problems, to offer the best analysis and solutions for any situation and location where lightning or surge damage could be an issue.
Standards
The IS EN 62305 standard reflects increased scientific understanding of lightning and its effects over the last twenty years, and takes stock of the growing impact of technology and electronic systems on our daily activities.
NF C 17-102: Protection of Structures and open areas against Lightning using early streamer emission air terminals.
Surge Protection
IS EN 62305 (part 4) requires that surge protection must be included as part of a lightning protection system, to safeguard the building, and the people and equipment within it, from the damaging effects of transient over-voltages.
Maintenance and Testing
Powercom Solutions recommend that all lightning conductors and earth grounding installations should be visually inspected and tested at regularly fixed intervals, preferably not exceeding 12 months, although we recommend the interval should be slightly shorter than one year in order to vary the season in which testing takes place over time.
Annual Service Contracts
As you may be aware, where lightning protection is fitted, it should be professionally tested by a trusting company on a annual basis (no more than 11 months) to comply with the IS EN 62305:2011, BS 6651:1999, meaning throughout 12 years your lightning protection system will have been tested during every seasonal month of the year.

Our experienced team of electricians can deal with all types of electrical problems ranging from simple fault finding or fixing electrical sockets to more complex tasks such as rewiring and fuse box installations.
