About The Journeyman
'The Journeyman' Donal Mooney
A skilled stonemason with over 30 years experience and expert in the traditional Irish building techniques of stone and lime mortar, 'The Journeyman' Donal Mooney brings a craftsman's eye, a sound grasp of the disappearing art of stonemasonry and an individual creative flair to all his projects. He has worked on major historical restorations (collaborating with top architects internationally on projects from 5th century churches in Killiney to Louvain monastery in Belgium, and including restoration work on Dublin Castle, Rathmichael and Trinity College Dublin), specialising in pointing, lime mortars and conservation. He has also worked on modern venues such as Tripod and the Isaac Butts hostels.
However, 'The Journeyman' is equally at home on small-scale home, interior and garden projects including (but not limited to) wall-building, landscaping, mosaic, fireplaces, paving, tiling, bridges, pillars and outhouse construction. He is likewise adept at design and horticulture. Bringing traditional textures and a historical feel to all his projects, whatever your vision 'The Journeyman' will help you realise it!
Member of the National Guild of Master Craftsmen.
