About Gerry Neilon Scaffolding Limited
Clarisford Palace is a protected structure located in Killaloe, Co. Clare. Formerly the residence of the Anglican Bishops of Killaloe, the property is a magnificent late eighteenth century, three storey, five bay, hip-roofed house over a basement.
In my capacity as Project Manager I was requested by the current owners of Clarisford Palace to oversee and co-ordinate the re-roofing of the property including repair work to chimneys and maintenance/repair/re-painting of the building's 71 windows.
Gerry Neilon's scaffolding firm was hired to provide scaffolding that would accommodate the roofers, stone masons to the chimneys, as well as the repair and painting of the windows. The Conservation Engineer hired to guide us through the project was most specific in his requirements concerning the scaffold erection - absolutely no part of the scaffold was to be anchored into the house walls and under no circumstances was the building's fabric to be damaged or interfered with by the scaffold structure.
Gerry and his team providing a strong and safe scaffold structure for the tradesmen to work from. The scaffolding did not interfere with the building fabric and was fully approved by the Conservation Engineer. There were a few minor scaffold issues noted by the project's Health & Safety Consultant which were promptly dealt with by Gerry's team.
Gerry Neilon and his scaffolding team have played an important role in this restoration project. He is a competent, professional and most agreeable person to work with. I would have every confidence in recommending him to others and to those embarking on project work involving a protected structure.
