By using our surveying service an accurate picture of what is achievable along with the costs and timescales that will be involved.
Previous Projects
Fine Iron produced vehicle entrance and access gates, one pedestrian gate and five gate piers as well as 180 metres of iron railings for St. Lawrence's Church in Darlaston near Walsall. We also installed all of the ironwork.
St. Lawrences was largely rebuilt in 1872 in a Victorian style of architecture but a church, probably founded by William de Darlaston, has been on the site since the 12th century.
Very traditional forged entrance gates produced in genuine wrought iron using traditional methods to create magnificent gates with wrought iron monogram. These gates were finished with a bronzed patina and are fully automated.
The ironwork lighting compliments the style and period of the grounds to this Welsh home, Fine Iron also made and fitted the iron stair railings for the stone steps and the garden balustrade.
Fine Iron was commissioned to develop a design idea from the client that would be both contemporary and traditional in appearance for a substantial new build in Surrey. This is the result, a very elegant and individual balustrade.
Fine Iron developed our own patterns for the clips that join the stainless steel hand rail sections together and hand forged the monkey tail ends on the newel posts at the base of the stairs.
This simply elegant balustrade was designed and installed in a show home in Kensington.
The design theme of the forged steel staircase balustrade continues around the four sides of the mezzanine floor level creating an impressive entrance when a visitor looks upwards in this house in Wimbledon, London.

We've just finished the handrail and balustrading to our revamped staircase and landing and are delighted with the results from FineIRON. The metalwork element was fabricated and installed without any issues. The guys undertaking the installation were polite, respectful and did a brilliant job within the quoted timescales. Many thanks to all the FineIRON team who were involved in this project, it has transformed the space and made it feel and look like an 'Old Hall' again!

I was looking for some metalworkers to fabricate a highly bespoke staircase for a private residence in London and reached out to Lee at Fine Iron, after seeing their online portfolio. Fine Iron were assembled a quote that demonstrated they had understood the complexity of the project, and priced different options so the Client could select the option that best suited their budget and aspirations. Fine Iron were chosen to work on the project as they were able to demonstrate that they could achieve the high quality required for the job, and had existing relationships with an artist, pattern maker, and foundry, that were necessary for the project.
The final stair included bespoke artist-designed cast iron treads, bespoke stringers and was decorated by Fine Iron in their paint workshop using a high-spec Jotun paint system that was designed for the offshore oil/gas industry.
The project had lots of design changes, and we requested additional fabrications during the project. Fine Iron worked hard to fit these extras within their schedule, which otherwise would have affected programme.
Fine Iron were employed by a main contractor for this project so I'm unable to comment on their performance on a contractual basis. Also, I am not a QS, so can't comment on costs. However, the final product was very high quality - Lee and team were a pleasure to work with from start to finish

I found FineIron via Google whilst researching a new porch for our house. It was a long search to find precisely what we were looking for, as there was so much to sift through to eventually home in on what we wanted. That was, essentially, a custom porch (due to the width and height restriction), visually appealing and high quality craftsmanship and materials.
FineIron’s catalogue was an excellent start to the process in terms of understanding their products (standard and custom) and the process for measuring and ordering. I drafted a drawing of the main dimensions and sent it off for their review. We wanted quite a deep and wide canopy, but the canopy height is constrained due to protruding bricks on the wall it’s fixed on. I had a number of outstanding questions and was able to have a couple of telephone calls with FineIron to go through them. That gave me lots of confidence that we were in safe hands and demonstrated their experience and capability. They then produced professional drawings with multiple elevations so I could check everything properly before committing to that specification.
Manufacturing then commenced and I acknowledged the ‘long’ lead time was due to pandemic challenges with raw material supplies, as well as understanding that the porch was all being hand-made and that required time to do it properly.
Delivery: the products were superbly packaged and protected. There weren’t any issues whatsoever.
I planned the installation using the drawings and guidance provided by FineIron. The main highlights of the installation, other than simple fitting with nuts and bolts, were: (1) construction of some concrete pads for the granite pad stones to sit on, (2) brick bolts for fitting to the house wall, (3) expanding foam tape between the canopy and the house wall, rather than using sealant, and (4) it was essential to have both a friend helping with lifting and fitting the canopy, and a small scaffold gantry rather than just step ladders. Installation took two days (14-16 hours) and like all these jobs, that would take less than a day the second time around. I’d say you need to be a competent DIY person to take on the installation job!
Throughout the process Deb and Mikhaila have both been exceptionally helpful and very easy to do business with, and it’s been a positive customer experience for us. As I mentioned earlier, it took us a long time to find what we had in our mind’s-eye view and we’re very pleased that FineIron has perfectly achieved that.

Can't fault Fineiron in any way. From turning our initial rough sketch in to a proposal through to keeping us inform on production and then delivery it was just what you what when ordering a once in a lifetime bespoke item. The production and finish is reassuringly high quality when investing in something which will last a lifetime (and beyond!).

I am very happy to recommend this company both, from a quality of product and a price perspective. I carefully matched a local blacksmith, a joiner and a lead roofer to produce the work with the price quoted by Fine Iron and although they were marginally more expensive it meant everything was delivered together ready to fit and I would not have to ensure that each individual component/tradesman turned up on time and manage the project myself. The porch was erected by a local tradesman who commented on the beautiful quality of the ironwork and the ease with which it went together ("like a big Meccano set really"). The delivery from Wales to Northumberland was an excellent service and the packaging of the components on the pallet was absolutely faultless as was the pre-delivery service/instructions I received from Fine Iron. A lovely product and it looks fantastic on my 18th century house.
