CRH Appoints New Designate Leaders

International building materials group CRH has appointed two men to lead the company, in a designate capacity.

Myles Lee will now be tasked with the role of Group Chief Executive Designate, succeeding the current Chief Executive Liam O'Mahony. Mr O'Mahony recently announced he would be retiring at the end of this year.

Fifty-five-year-old Mr Lee, a civil engineer and accountant, joined the company in 1982. In 1988 he was appointed General Manager Finance and subsequently became Finance Director in November 2003, at which time he joined the CRH Board.


CRH has also announced the appointment of Albert Manifold as Group Chief Operating Officer Designate. Mr Manifold will take up his position in January and will also join the company's board.

An accountant and MBA, Mr Manifold, joined CRH in 1998, since then he has functioned in a series of senior positions, including Group Development Director and, since July 2007, Managing Director Europe Materials.

CRH said the management change: "Reflects a natural evolution of the organisational structure, given the continuing growth and development of the Group in the US and western Europe."

The company is also becoming exposed to emerging markets in central and eastern Europe, as well as Asia.
